Braydi Rice

Braydi is the granddaughter of Elsie May Hodgson and comes from the Cree Métis Hodgson family from Shellbrook, Saskatchewan. Braydi is a citizen of the Métis Nation of BC (MNBC), was raised in the East Kootenays and currently resides in Vancouver. Braydi first became involved within MNBC’s governance structure as the first Youth Community Representative for the Columbia Valley Métis Association, then became the Youth Representative for Region 4 in 2016. During her time as the Youth Representative for Region 4, Braydi sat on the Advisory Committee for “Ta Saantii: A profile and Métis youth in BC” and took an active part in the development of the final report.

Braydi has always held a strong interest in science, particularly in areas of biology, and pursued her academic interests by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, followed by a Master of Forestry from the University of British Columbia, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Conservation and Land Management from Bangor University.
