MNBC Celebrates Métis Community Support Worker Program Graduates
On December 4, 2019, nine (9) graduates of the Métis Community Support Worker program were celebrated and recognized for all of their hard work and commitment to the program. Many people came out to celebrate with the graduates including their families, Métis Elders, dignitaries, partners, collaborators, UFV faculty and staff, facilitators, MNBC staff and many others who had a role in bringing this vision to fruition. A special presentation was made to Elder Marie Bercier acknowledging all her support for the students.
The Métis Community Support Worker program was a partnership between MNBC and the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), funded by the Provincial Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. This 18-month low-barrier, holistic and Métis-culture-infused program has enabled those completing a certificate to learn the skills required to secure employment while re-connecting to their culture, communities, and families. This program has been an incredible success, with almost all of the graduates already securing work in this field of work.
Congratulations to the nine graduates of the Métis Community Support Worker program; we look forward to hearing all about the good work they achieve!
